OUTLOOK CROATIA REVIEW

Every year, 16,000 or so bass music fans make the pilgrimage from all over the world to a small coastal town in Pula, Croatia for a week of unadulterated partying in what is surely the best setting for a festival in the world. Once again, DJ Mag made the trip over to Croatia for a week's worth of damn hard work (!), and more than a little hedonism. With a line-up that was as excellent as it was prolific, there was no way that we were ever going to be able to see everyone that we wanted to. However, we gave it our damned best try!

JOKER PREMIERES NEW TRACK 'MIDNIGHT'

The famed Bristolian producer is back with a new single 'Midnight' in anticipation of his new album, which is due on his own label Kapsize 16th February.

The hugely anticipated album is set to be some of the producer's most mature work yet, he styles it as his "A/W Collection", stating: "I want everybody to listen to it once from start to finish, in their whip, in their yard, in their studio, going for a run whatever… 'cos that’s how I intended to bring people into my world."

THE OTHERS UNVEIL 'MYSTYLE 004'

Alex Crawford, aka The Others, burst onto the dubstep scene back in 2007 when his track 'Africa VIP' featured on Caspa & Rusko's seminal Fabriclive mix. Alex went on to produce a stream of widely acclaimed releases for Dub Police, and seven years on he's still an integral part of the label, a testament to his loyalty and the close-knit team behind the label.

PREMIERE: ARTIKAL MUSIC UK: THE COMPILATION LP

J:Kenzo's Artikal Music UK has been a rising star in dubstep for quite some time now, and a string of game changing releases in the past year has cemented its place in the scene amongst legendary 140 heavyweights such as Tempa, Deep Medi, Boka and Tuba.

Not one to rest on its laurels, J:Kenzo's label is continuing its domination of the scene with what may be their biggest release yet.

WHERE’S THE BOOTY?

This guy must be an imposter. The laidback gentleman posing for the camera during his DJ Mag USA photo shoot in New York City can’t possibly be Borgore.

BASSNECTAR UNLEASHES NEW ALBUM

Lorin Ashton grew up in a commune in the San Francisco Bay Area, and the first art he created was mini-movies on his dad's cine-camera at the age of 10. He soon got into heavy metal groups like Megadeth and Nirvana in his early teens and started a metal band called Pale Existence, and promoted metal shows before discovering that he loved going to raves in California in the mid-'90s. Soon he was making his own electronic stuff, using rudimentary equipment at first.

INSPECTED - GRIME & DUBSTEP @ BOXPARK LONDON

If you are yet to discover Inspected, check out this feature we did on them a while back...

As Inspected's first ever live event, expectations were high and nobody really knew what to expect, with a huge line-up consisting of xKore, Asa & Sorrow, Culprate, Gemini, and Inspector Dubplate. The fact the event was completely free of charge made this simply too good to miss.

TRUTH FREE DOWNLOAD: 'ENDLESSLY'

Dubstep duo Truth have gone from strength to strength since being picked up by Mala back in '09, with a stream of successful releases on what looks like a who's who of reputable dubstep labels, including and not limited to: Deep Medi, Tempa, Boka, GetDarker, Wheel & Deal, Black Box, Artikal, Tuba, New Moon — and now, Firepower?
