ULTRA EUROPE ANNOUNCES FIRST BIG NAMES

Now approaching its third annual edition, Ultra Europe is officially the largest electronic music festival to ever take place on Croatian soil — and this year it again has a monumental line-up to match.

Amongst the picks of the first phase of artists set to perform at the week-long festival, taking place at the Poljud stadium, include: Dutch DJ superstar Afrojack, one third of the disbanded Swedish House Mafia, Steve Angello, tech-house favourite Carl Cox and young EDM sensation Martin Garrix.

EUROPE'S BIGGEST DJS

Of all the regions represented in 2014’s Top 100 DJs result, it is Europe that is most dominant. A staggering 70% of the 100 DJs in the list are European. Of the Top ten DJs in the poll, eight are European and five are from Holland - a nation that has turned EDM into a major export over the last decade or two. These are Europe’s biggest DJs, as voted for by you.

ULTRA SOUTH AFRICA PHASE 1 LINE-UP

Ultra South Africa has just revealed the first part of its 2015 line-up. After bringing its massive festival to Africa for the first time in 2014, Ultra is looking to build on earlier success with its 2015 festival on 13th — 14th February in Cape Town and Johannesburg.

ARMIN PICKS HIS 'ONES TO WATCH'

The reach of Armin Van Buuren is enormous now. The five times winner of the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs poll has just been chosen by CNN International to “shine a light” on two up and coming acts for a TV series that airs next week.

Armin has chosen to big up Heatbeat from Argentina and Andrew Rayel from Moldova, who have both figured prominently in the new Top 100 DJs poll.

Hardwell received the coveted No.1 DJ in the world award at the massive Amsterdam party on Saturday 18th October. This is the fourth year in a row that the Top 100 DJs awards have been in Amsterdam, to coincide with the ADE conference that occurs in mid-October every year.

June's DJ Mag cover star Fatboy Slim will be heading to the South Of France next month as one of the main attractions at Electrobeach, the festival held in the beautiful location of Port Barcarès on July 11th and 12th.

After his trip to Brazil and various sojourns around Glastonbury, Fatboy will be bringing his through-the-ages audio-visual show to Electrobeach as one of the main headliners.

A CALL TO ARMIN

Past years have seen the Dutch trance favourite choose Space and Privilege for his residencies, but this year his decision to join forces with Ibiza's iconic poolside arena shows yet more tilt in booking power on the island.

The Academy of Electronic Music (AEM) - the collaborative project from DJ Mag, Armada Music, Point Blank Music School and Google - made history last year as the world’s first interactive online educational program for electronic music producers.

Now the innovative project has been recognised by the prestigious Webby Awards, with a nomination in the Social: Arts and Culture category.
