Madrid’s Bawrut is a regular fixture with the Ransom Note family by now. A purveyor of off-kilter, jaunty house and techno, he will release his fourth EP on the label on 27th September.
Following landmark releases like ‘Ciquita’ and ‘Rumba’, Bawrut pulls no punches on this off the wall new EP, 'Pronto Arpeggio' with its 11-minute title track doing just as its title might suggest. Rapid, colourful arpeggios descend into hysteria before going full-throttle.
It’s followed by ‘Shooree’. Only slightly shorter at 10 minutes, it’s a slowly building techno belter with oddball sounds, smacking snares and subtle acid motifs chiming in throughout. Recent DJ Mag On Cue selector and interviewee Ruf Dug delivers a stellar remix of it, honing in on the more subtle sounds for a suitable closer to a delightfully frantic EP.
