UK charity Youth Music has launched the NextGen Fund, offering financial support to young creatives at the start of their music careers. 

Butterz head honcho, Elijah, is spearheading the initiative, which aims to help tomorrow's industry innovators realise their dreams and ideas. 

Applicants must be aged between 18 and 25, or 30 for those who identify as disabled. Grants of up to £2,500 are available, with 40 projects to be chosen per round of funding. There will be a total of three rounds per year.

Following the announcement of his new 'A Trilogy Of Funk' EP series at the start of the month, the South London producer has dropped the video to the first EP's title-track, 'Connecta'.

Recorded in São Paulo and featuring Ricardo China, 'Connecta' offers upbeat vibes and more lively Latin percussion than you shake a... well, shaker at!

Master of modern funk, Swindle, has announced a new triple EP series for Butterz.

Titled 'A Trilogy In Funk', the collection works similarly to his 2015 album 'Peace, Love & Music', finding the South London producer combining elements of local music from across the globe with his unique sound.

First up comes 'Connecta'; recorded in São Paulo, the EP is said to celebrate "the joy of summer" through its Brazilian vibe, and features a collaboration with Ricardo China and a remix from DJ Q.

Butterz bosses Elijah and Skilliam have just come back from spending a month in Japan with some select MCs, producers and DJs, where they recorded a mammoth live mix to showcase the vibe.

Elijah says: ‘Visiting [Japan] for the first time in 2014 and playing a couple of clubs showed me there are people far and wide passionate about this music and, most importantly, want to contribute to it.’

DJ Mag spoke to Elijah in the latest issue of the magazine, out on the shelves now, which details some of their previous links with the country.

Elijah & Skilliam are releasing a grime compliation featuring quality cuts from the past year.

The 40-track complication offers a wide survey of the grime scene in 2015 featuring MCs from both old and new schools including Wiley, Novelist, Stormzy, and D Double E. 

FabricLive have just announced their full listings for the spring season 2015 covering March, April and May.

The events, which take place every Friday night, will play host to a vast spectrum of DJs including Jackmaster, who was recently voted best DJ at our 2014 Best Of British awards.
