If last month's choice selections didn't make it clear already then the Top 30 UK events in June 2018 certainly will. It's now festival season.
The coming weeks are testament to the fact Britain's summer scene still has plenty to offer, with major events like London's much-feted techno-off, Junction 2, Welsh super-session with added fairytale elements, Gottwood, and Belfast conference-cum-party AVA accounting for 50% of our top picks.
!K7's 'DJ Kicks' compilation mix series will release its latest installment on 8th July from Glasgow's finest, Jackmaster.
The mix, which the Numbers co-founder seems to have gone through hell and back to record (losing his computer, rewriting the tracklist and re-recording multiple times), features tracks from Tessela, Eliphino, Denis Sulta, Mr. G and Robert Hood, amongst others.
DJ Mag catches up with Scottish DJ/producer Jackmaster at the International Music Summit in Ibiza, to talk his brand new DJ-Kicks mix, raving at sea and setting up a new studio in his hometown of Glasgow...
Moodymann has been announced as the latest artist to mix an instalment of !K7's iconic DJ-Kicks series.
The Detroit legend is set to spin on the series' 52nd edition, with the new mix set to feature a deft combination of rare wax and recognisable club cuts, including tracks from José González, Noir & Haze, Little Dragon and more.
The new mix also features 11 exclusive Moodymann edits that showcase his significant skill as a producer as well as a selector.
It's out 19th February via !K7 Records.
Renowned compilation series, DJ Kicks, will see the revered and provocative DJ Seth Troxler command the latest edition of the series.
As ever, he’s been broad in his selection and had this to say about the mix, “I wanted to curate something for people to easily listen to, that was nice, and funny and got you in the mood to do your homework, or drive that hour long trip when you need to go somewhere. I see this mix as a gay man named Rodney. Or a big black woman named Birtha.”
Nina Kraviz has been one of the most significant breakthrough international DJ/producers of the past few years. Brought up in the Siberian city of Irkutsk in Russia in a music-loving household, she was inspired to start her own radio show in the late '90s after hearing Armando's acidic 'Downfall'.
When thinking of Siberia you're imagination is more likely to turn to endless tundra than techno clubs, the Russian region, which covers 10 percent of the Earth's surface more attuned to the Trans-Siberian Railway than the electronic offspring of Trans-Europe Express. Yet the latest edition to DJ Kicks' ever-excellent mix series, put together by Nina Kraviz (who originally hails from the Siberian city of Irkutsk), shines with a deep knowledge of Detroit techno, Chicago house and beyond.
