Believe it or not, the 2016 Ibiza season is approaching its climax. It seems like only yesterday we were packing our bags and heading to the Balearic party island for the opening parties, but now the closing party season is upon us! So if you’re heading out for closing, these are the parties that you won't want to miss.
THE LAST EVER SPACE CLOSING FIESTA
Space Ibiza could be moving to a new location in San Antonio, according to reports.
They state that in July 2015 the government received plans to renovate the Reco des Sol Hotel and combine it with a nightclub, and it is thought the license would be granted under an existing law that allows hotel and nightclub combinations.
If you’re a fan of DC-10, you’re probably already familiar with Cassy. The talented DJ/producer has been a prominent force at both Jamie Jones’ Paradise parties and much-loved DC-10 rave-up, Circo Loco, over the last five years, plus she’s also found time to produce an album and tour the globe in the process. Her new album ‘Donna’ dropped via AUS Music earlier this year to rave reviews, and cemented her place as one of dance music’s most influential and fascinating producers.
Space Ibiza have added Anja Schneider and Darius Syrossian to the line-up for the venue’s final closing party on Sunday 2nd October.
It’s also been revealed that the event will make use of all five of the club’s rooms, with doors being set to open at 4:30pm, before closing again sometime on Monday.
Space Ibiza had already announced that Carl Cox and Tale Of Us will play the club’s final closing party, with the original artwork stating “many, many, many” more artists are to be announced for the event, which promises to be one of the hottest tickets of the year.
The Glitterbox dancefloor is a special place. Soaked in sequins, soundtracked by the classics and dotted with drag queens, it’s one of the White Isle’s most glamorous nights.
Techno line-ups don’t come much bigger than Mikaela’s brand-new night ONYX, taking over on Mondays at Space throughout the 2016 season. As the name would suggest, the focus of the new night is on pitch-black, industrial-tinged techno, with the Love The Underground Records boss drafting in a slew of reputable selectors to join her behind the decks each week. There’s also a focus on live acts at ONYX — in addition to straight-up DJ sets — with Answer Code Request, Karenn, Rebekah and Borderland all confirmed to perform.
Techno duo Tale Of Us and the White Isle seem like an odd couple. Best known for their dark and moody musical aesthetic — released mostly via their own imprint, Life + Death — Tale Of Us have put down permanent roots in sunny Ibiza for the first time ever this year, following a small stint of dates at DC-10 in 2015.
After this week’s news that Amnesia was searched by Spanish authorities, the investigation has seemingly widened with Space and Privilege now being searched by the police this morning, according to Diario de Ibiza.
It’s unclear if the searches are related to one another, but it’s clearly worrying times for all involved as Spanish authorities widen their investigation into more of the island’s biggest clubs.
